We are looking for a Technical Support Officer to join the Planning Support Team. This post would be ideal for a recent graduate seeking work experience in Planning, or someone with good administration skills, either returning to work or wanting a career change.
The role of Technical Support Officer is key to the success of the wider Planning team.
You will be part of a team of 11 performing a wide variety of tasks; validating and registering all types of application, calculating fees and taking payments, dealing with comments from the public, providing information, and keeping planning information accurate and up to date.
You will be dealing with a wide variety of customer and internal enquiries on the telephone, email and occasionally, face to face with a focus on promoting discretionary, chargeable services. I am looking for someone who is committed to delivering excellent customer service, is confident, polite and respectful while being clear and concise about the best way to resolve queries.
You will need to demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy while performing complex and non-complex tasks and have good communication skills to correspond with agents, applicants, the public and colleagues alike.
You will be comfortable using a variety of databases including GIS and multiple sources of information, able to work well under pressure, often unsupervised. You will be interested in Planning and the planning process, motivated to learn new skills and fit happily into a friendly, flexible and hard-working team.
Secondments will be considered for this position, alongside external applicants.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
