This Claims Technical Support Assistant will report to the Property & Consents Business Support Manager and will work within the Asset Management directorate based in our Crawley office. You will be a fixed term employee for 12 - 18 months.
You will attract a salary of £37,491.00 and a bonus of 3%

Job Purpose:
In addition to the role and function of a Property & Consents (P&C) Business Support Assistant (BSA), the role of a Technical Support Assistant (TSA) will be to support the P&C Business Support Manager, by becoming a regional 'Point of Reference' and undertake the more technical business support enquiries in place of the Asset Management Surveyor. Such activities may include; obtain wayleave agreements for new equipment, serving sec. 37 applications, collate necessary information to serve Necessary Wayleave Application, straightforward rent reviews and lease renewals. As well as deal with CPO enquiries, Planning Applications, Stopping Up Orders, drawing legal plans and technical desk enquiries to support the Asset Management Surveyor and P&C Management Team.
Dimensions
Office based role with no direct reports, but working as part of the Business Support team spread over two regional offices;
To support the P&C Business Support Manager, be a 'Point of Reference' to the wider P&C Team and Business on P&C Business Support Matters;
Manage portfolio of small departmental projects of work;
Make decisions with Asset Management Surveyors and P&C Management Team regarding due process for dealing with legislative enquiries and requests for information;
Negotiate with Landowners (Customers), Grantors, Land Agents, Solicitors, Consultants and Internal Colleagues from Director level downwards about basic consent matters, before, if necessary, referral to Asset Management Surveyor or P&C Management Team;
Make decisions with Project Managers and Consent Managers regarding medium risk financial commitments, strategy and legal matters;
Provide financial/performance reporting relating to team performance.
Principal Accountabilities (In Addition to the Business Support Role):
Collaborate with internal and external landowners (Customers) to resolve queries over leases, freeholds, easements, payments, changes of address within agreed service level targets;
To support the Asset Management Surveyor, provide the necessary technical support to include; 'New' Wayleaves, Sec. 37 Applications, Support Necessary Wayleave Application, Undertake straightforward Rent Reviews and Lease Renewals, Dealing with Statutory Enquiries such as CPO enquiries, Planning Applications, Stopping Up Orders etc;
Be a mentor for all team members;
In support of the P&C Management Team, provide the necessary technical support, to include; Collect and Compile EGS8 data and report on a monthly basis, have a working understanding of SAP and, as and when necessary, provide Works/Purchase Orders and Manage payment to suppliers;
Become P&C's Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the management and updating of consent records within UK Power Networks Legacy and New Property/Payment Management Systems and Document Management System (Alfresco);
Provide internal and external Customers with copy consent documentation, within agreed service level targets, and be proficient in the navigation and interpretation of such consent;
Provide all necessary technical support to digitise UK Power Networks consent records, extract important consent information from documents and tie to existing engineering, geographical, customer and payment records. Be accurate in following a GIS based process that would allow a Land Registry Overlay to be incorporated onto UK Power Networks existing mapping system;
Active participation in Individual Performance Review sessions with your Line Manager;
Attendance at team days and monthly Face2Face briefings;
Active participation in the team Safety, Health and Environment Action Plan;
Undertake a 'Storm Role' during a System Emergency
Qualifications:
Excellent customer orientation and will provide excellent customer service in dealing with customers and grantors in the resolution of queries and complaints;
Detailed technical knowledge of all UK Power Networks Mapping and Consent/Property databases as well as, specifically for LPN, the use of Power On and GeoView;
Have a detailed understanding of the claims culture and processes associated with their management;
Good experience within the Property and Consents Department;
Good PC literacy and use a variety of systems, including Microsoft Office and SAP and Alfresco;
Awareness of the section's business, environmental, safety, financial and regulatory obligations and a working knowledge of the legal aspects of operational property and wayleaves management is required;
To develop relationships with important partners in the electricity utility industry, including government, environmental, statutory authorities and business departments and agencies;
Ability to work co-operatively with others to achieve shared goals;

Nature and Scope
Reporting to the Property & Consents Business Support Manager, the Technical Support Advisor deals with Internal and External customer enquiries and the more technical statutory enquires, lease/rent reviews and the acquisition of wayleaves for new equipment.
You will offer guidance on UK Power Networks Position and Policy regarding all Property and Consent issues, and will be a 'point of reference' to junior members within the Property & Consents
