OGI Bio is a University of Edinburgh biotechnology start-up company with a vision of revolutionising current practices in microbial culturing. We offer our customers in the microbiology sector affordable and innovative solutions for automation and analysis of microbial culturing. Our modular and retrofittable automation devices, and our increased analytics solutions are unique in the market. When combined they give our customers a flexible base from which to accelerate their innovation by increasing their R&D capability and throughput.
The company was founded 3 years ago and our modular culturing system has been certified and marketed to customers with first customer orders delivered. The company has a strong background in developing innovative products; were inaugural winners of the IBioIC Biotechnology Company Award in the Scottish Edge Awards and were also one of 40 companies to be recognised by the Scottish Government/Scottish Enterprise as having significant growth potential via their Unlocking Ambition Accelerator. OGI Bio has recently secured further investment and is looking to grow our market presence as we continue the development of new modules and products to complement our existing product range.
Technical Sales Engineer
OGI Bio is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support the growth of our company and contribute to accelerating the potential of biotechnology R&D. The post is permanent and full-time. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and generating customer leads for our microbial automation and other increased analytic product lines and will report directly to the CEO. The candidate will initially work alongside the CEO and founding team in this role, but this position provides the opportunity to shape the development of the sales process from an early stage, taking ownership of the lead generation and sales pipeline and building a team capable of meeting the needs of OGI Bio’s existing and potential customers. Key responsibilities will be to: expand the sales funnel by identifying candidate customers in the biotechnology, microbiology and academic sectors; design and execute targeted marketing strategies to engage with these customers; build relationships with potential customers and support them through their procurement process, drawing on experience within the OGI Bio team where necessary; and represent OGI Bio at meetings, conferences and tradeshows highlighting our products.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Necessary:
· Bachelors Degree in biological physics, life sciences, bioprocessing, chemistry or similar field
· Computer literacy including spreadsheet database, word processing and web-based applications.
· Full UK Driving licence
Desired
· Previous experience in customer relationship development
· MSc, PhD. Or a PhD. With post-doctoral or industry relevant experience
· Start up or SME business environment experience
· Coding experience with Phyton/Matlab or similar
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with the founding team to identify candidate customers
· Expand the sales funnel for OGI Bio’s existing product range by identifying customers in existing markets and establishing new markets
· Assist with the data gathering/preparation and creation of case studies and application notes
· Design and execute suitable marketing strategies and campaigns to engage with target customers
· Build relationships with potential customers, supporting them through their procurement process as necessary
· Establish processes to enable rapid expansion of OGI Bio’s sales pipeline as the company grows
