Job description
Are you a Building Surveyor/Project Manager who would be interested in a challenging yet exciting new role with plenty of variety?
Due to our continuing success and growth, we are now looking for a talented Technical Project Manager to be the key client account lead for a renewed framework appointment including framework services management and project delivery for a major client in the centre of Oxford. This work is technically challenging and requires a good understanding of project administration and technical design experience. Some of the projects that will be your first:
- Due diligence and risk management to support bring recent site and building acquisitions into the functional estate;
- Post Contract administration of site demolition and clearance
- Working with department of Engineering Science to Project Manage delivery of a temperature controlled facility;
- Working as Design Lead with Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics department to develop a laboratory refurbishment from RIBA stage 1 – 7 to accommodate academic research;
- Develop RIBA Stage 0 Feasibility and options exploration to improve building accessibility.
Whilst we expect this to be a senior role in our delivery team, we anticipate that this role may only require 3 days a week of dedicated client support, and we anticipate at least one full day on site in Oxford.
You to be based at our idyllic headquarters offices with over 200 staff in the grounds of Blenheim Park– Woodstock, Oxford.
We work collaboratively with clients and supply chains, facilitating a team ethos where every member of the project team is able to contribute effectively in pursuit of the best solutions and to provide greater certainty of outcomes no matter what the complexity or challenge.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for key service line delivery, managing and monitoring KPIs
- Lead portfolio management with regular direct client reporting
- Deliver capital projects from RIBA stage 0 – 7
- Managing projects of varying scale and complexity from typical planned maintenance, compliance upgrades to development of research facilities.
- Identifying and managing project delivery risk
- Build and lead inhouse multi-disciplinary teams
- Drive and manage stakeholder engagement at project and portfolio level
- Follow procedures and governance through project approval gateways
- Working closely with inhouse multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, programme manages, strategic project managers and senior responsible owners through well-established reporting procedures and gateway processes.
- Efficient organisation with methodical management of action logs and trackers
- Proficiency in developing and updating project programmes
- Ability to interpret requirements and develop project briefs
- Effective hosting, chairing and recording meetings in person or online
- Ability to build and motivate teams
- Able to follow procedures and guidelines
- Knowledge and understanding of statutory requirements for refurbishment / development projects
- Sound construction technology knowledge and understanding
- Understanding of risk management and financial controls
- Track record for successful project delivery from £100k - £10m
- Working knowledge of JCT forms of contact and procurement routes
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams. You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to work flexibly, both in the office and on-site, whilst demonstrating commercial awareness and exhibiting the ability to lead teams to complete the projects to agreed timelines.
