About The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced IT Project Manager to join the Technology and Change team.
We work in a hybrid way, mostly remote with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office once a week to work with the team. With that in mind you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
Principal Accountabilities;
Manage IT Projects
Takes ownership, accountable for the delivery of the project following
briefing from the head of delivery or project sponsor.
Effectively mobilise projects, identifying and organising
resources and establishes the required project governance
Management of multiple concurrent projects within the roadmap
Work with the delivery team to ensure that an accurate resource forecast is
complete and maintained
Work with third party resource and shared service suppliers to fulfil project
needs
Responsible for the execution of the deliverables in line with the plan
Responsible for the end to end delivery of projects (initiation, analysis and design, build and test, deploy and handover)
Manage the projects to the agreed project lifecycle, and governance
framework
Deliver to the agreed time, quality and cost plans, adhering to tolerances
and escalation reporting.
Effectively transition the project into Service delivery and ensure all
remaining change and issues are closed down
- Monitor and control IT Projects
Ensure appropriate controls are in place for time, cost and quality
Ensure detailed base lined plans are produced; critical path is signed off
and reported against.
Monitor, track and report to key IT and business stakeholders
Ensure appropriate risk, issues, assumptions and dependency
management is in place, liaise with business and IT stakeholder for
identification, escalation and mitigation.
Ensure compliance to the governance structure as defined in the life cycle
- Relationship Management
Develop and maintain effective relationships with the product owner or
project sponsor and business team
Engage and build relationships with the delivery team and stakeholders
who will be required to support and deliver the project
Engage and build relationships with the various business stakeholders to
ensure the appropriate input and support is in place for the project.
Co-ordinate and liaise with 3rd parties where appropriate for the delivery and
co-ordination of the IT technical tasks
Engage and build relationships within the IT team.
- Financial Control
Develop, co-ordinate and help establish business case for projects
Monitor budgets regularly to ensure budget remains within the agreed
financial governance
Ensure appropriate gateway governance is adhered to.
- Project Management Practice
Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues to provide support
and knowledge transfer
Conduct peer reviews of project documentation
Define and support improvements to the working practices within project
portfolio, function and IT by contributing to improvement initiatives
- Portfolio Support
Shaping, developing and establishing business case for projects
Support project quality checks, and quality assurance activities across the
portfolio
Support the mobilisation / shaping of projects, across the portfolio
Support the resolution of project issues, across the portfolio
- Line Management
On boarding and mentoring new starters
Mentoring Junior Project Managers
About You
About you;
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following knowledge, skills and
Attributes:
Qualifications:
Degree level qualification is desirable
PRINCE2 or similar practitioner accredited
AgilePM or similar practitioner accredited
Change Management or similar practitioner accreditation is desirable
Knowledge:
Knowledge of project management methodologies
Knowledge of waterfall, agile and scrum based methodologies
Knowledge of IT systems and architectures
Experience:
Essential
Experience in delivering multiple / portfolios of projects, concurrently.
Experience of managing project level budgets from £100k to £1M
Experience of producing and managing resource forecasts
Experience in managing technical projects, through the full project lifecycle.
Experience in business change projects, through the full project lifecycle.
Experience of shaping, developing and establishing business case for projects
Experience of delivering projects using a variety of project management methodologies.
Experience of mobilising projects, identifying and organising resources and
