This is a fixed-term contract until 31/8/23.
160 hours over a 4-week shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.
Job Purpose:
To be a multi-skilled Technical Operator capable of working with broadcast equipment in a fast-paced live environment. The Technical Operator is primarily responsible for providing audio and video and graphics gallery support to the Director / Vision Mixer, working closely with client Producers to deliver professional broadcast content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Live broadcast sound desk operation:
Mixing sound sources, monitoring and maintaining of audio levels, audio ingest and playback, operation of ancillary equipment (including compressor/limiter, ISDN), use of microphones, rigging of all equipment ensuring health and safety guidelines are met, liaison with production staff and talent via talkback, use of the broadcast router.
- VT operation:
EVS replay and ingest/playout, source selection via monitoring router, use of IP Director and other server based video systems.
- Graphics playout:
On-screen graphics control via PC interface, selection of automated data, manual data input.
- Vision Switching:
Use of vision desk for selection of source to air, utilising DVE moves.
- General:
Use of talkback facilities, interaction with broadcast and monitoring routers, carries out start-up and power down procedures in some technical areas.
- Studio and Camera operation:
Camera set-up and racking, operation of remote camera control systems, use of intelligent lighting controller/lighting desks, set-up of microphones and all associated studio equipment.
- Editing:
Use of Avid non-linear edit facilities to produce ad hoc and scheduled programmes. On-screen graphics incorporation.
