Technical Consultant - Painting & Decorating Darwen, England

Crown Paints
Full Time Darwen, England 41409 - 64314 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

We've all heard that saying "it's like watching paint dry", well here at Crown Paints Darwen, we are recruiting someone to do just that!

Ok, it is not quite as it sounds - we are looking for a Technical Consultant to join our Research & Development team. Someone who can test our products to ensure they do what it says on the tin, who can investigate complaints and find the route cause and also be an educator to our wider business and to our customers. So actually a pretty exciting role!

Sounds interesting, tell me more...

  • You'll undertake practical work both in the laboratory and on-site such as preparation of substrates, application of product development samples, competitor products, complaint evaluations and flake analysis
  • You'll report on findings and collaborate with the wider R&D / QA teams to ensure that the requirements for current and future paints are fully considered and that follow-up testing and investigations are completed
  • Agree settlement with parties concerned within pre-agreed authority limits or, where these are exceeded, make internal recommendations as to the best course of action to take.
  • Provide sound technical advice/help to customers and Crown Paints employees alike on the suitability and use of Crown Paints products
  • Undertake the preparation and supply of high quality painted samples as supporting aids for Marketing and Sales colleagues

Sounds interesting, what skills and experience will I need?

For this role, we believe there is no better person than a time-served painter and decorator. If you have had experience on the tools and ideally hold an NVQ or equivalent in a relevant Painting & Decorating field then we'd like to hear from you. In addition, you'll also have:

  • Customer focus and awareness of customer needs, internally and externally
  • Experience of decorating commercial premises to a high standard
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to all levels, internally and externally
  • A shown ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and judgement when dealing with customer complaints
  • Sufficient digital literacy to function effectively in a modern business environment

With great work comes great reward

Crown Paints takes pride in their excellent working conditions and in addition, offer an attractive reward package that includes:

  • 28 days basic annual leave each year (plus 8 bank holidays)
  • A variety of discounts / vouchers on products that Crown supply
  • A generous pension plan where the Company will match, and even double your contribution
  • Multiple other benefits relating to your health and wellbeing

Application Process
