Where you fit in

Technical Consultant is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the technology being deployed. You will have deep knowledge of infrastructure setup and will drive the integration of the new system/platform into Shell's IT landscape. This includes knowledge of authentication protocols, network dependencies, Active Directory footprint and other necessary integration requirements. For the application or technology being developed / deployed, the Technical Consultant typically performs the following:

  • Analysis of and at times support in developing the Technical Design
  • Independent Testing from Proof of concept (PoC) through to User Acceptance Test (UAT).
  • Advising the Configuration of Digital Workspace, Collaboration, Unified Communications and Audio-Visual solutions
  • Working with Business Analysts and Solution Architects to translate end user requirements into Technical Design Specifications

What’s the role?

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced AV Engineer responsible for delivering Audio Visual technology projects in the Shell companies
  • Responsible for understanding business requirements and delivering specific infrastructure systems and designs for large, complex Audio-Visual solutions that comply with Shell’s underlying technical operating environments
  • This position requires extensive knowledge of the commercial audio-visual market and the ability to design and document systems. The Audio-Visual Engineer will provide project engineering services by assisting with project analysis, system design, proposal generation, labour estimation, shop drawing creation, system testing and configuration
  • Desire someone who has experience in a technical consultant role who can clearly communicate technology concepts and information across different stakeholder groups. Additionally, the individual should be comfortable within Agile and waterfall project methodologies
  • Requires a multifaceted individual who understands AV technology architecture across a broad spectrum of areas from AutoCAD, DSP/video/audio/VC platforms to Networking and control/monitoring systems

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from the candidates with below skill set:

  • Co-ordinating or leading the design activity (low- and high-level design) working effectively with Solution Architects, Suppliers, Customers and SMEs
  • Developing and communicating appropriate quality criteria for technical solutions and related AV projects and ensuring the adequacy and effective use of quality control procedures
    Enables successful and secure delivery of Audio-Visual solutions into the estate
    Conducting technical reviews/audits and risk assessments, recommending appropriate action to management, and seeking guidance from more experienced or specialised practitioners as required
  • Dimensions: Projects and consultancy engagements will vary in budget, duration, and geography
  • Working in a global organization and with major outsourced suppliers of infrastructure project delivery as well as a wide range of AV products, support models and vendors that vary across geographies
  • Working virtually with their team and major stakeholders
    Incumbent will require expertise applicable to advising, scoping, designing, and defining projects which are either complex and broad in scope or requiring specific experience and expertise in all aspects of the Audio-Visual technology spectrum

Mandatory Skills:

  • Extensive years of experience in the AV Industry with roles focused on AV-Presales with AV installation experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD MS Visio tools
  • Experience configuring Digital Signal Processor (DSP) platforms
  • Experience configuring Video Teleconferencing (VTC) platforms, specifically: Cisco, Polycom, Microsoft Teams
  • Control System programming experience with: Crestron, Extron, AMX systems
  • Sound knowledge on AV products line from different manufacturers E.g., Crestron, Extron, Shure, QSC and other OEM’s
  • Experience with EASE acoustic modelling software
  • Experience with Smaart Live and other testing tools
  • Demonstrable history of excellent stakeholder engagement/management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a global/remote team environment, sensitive to client’s needs
  • Proven history of ability to work closely with Project Manager, Rack Build personnel and control system programmer to collaboratively address design questions and concerns
  • Must coordinate with General Contractor as well as other subcontractors to ensure appropriate project design coordination
  • 1 relevant accreditation to a base level (TOGAF, ITIL, Cisco CCNA)

Preferred Skills:

  • Infocomm CTS or CTS -D Certification
  • Experience with ITIL processes, managed services, help desk systems and related activities including ability to troubleshoot alerts
  • An individual with a keen attitude who maintains constant upskilling through online opportunities and supplier event attendance
  • Additional skills across end user computing systems like windows clients, VOIP and mobile platforms (IOS, Android) would also be welcome
  • AVIXA /Infocomm Networking Technology certification
