Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) Real-Time Lead Engineer

As a Barclays EDP Real-Time Lead Engineer, you will be work in a small, highly technical team of software engineers that develop, deliver and maintain a central enterprise streaming platform to multiple tenants. You will promote usage of the platform by providing technical support to all clients and provide visibility of platform operations with comprehensive documentation, monitoring and reporting. You will serve as an ambassador of the platform leading ideation, socialization, and the embedment of the platform in the Bank’s wider objectives.

What will you be doing?
- Working in a team of peers to design, architect, engineer, and supporting a central enterprise platform that specializes in transporting and processing of streaming data
- Acting as the authoritative source of data for Barclays
- Championing the adoption of the platform by creating compelling incentives in the form of automated services, lean processes, and quality documentation
- Providing technical support such as architectural and engineering guidance and expertise to new and existing clients on the platform
- Becoming a Barclays’ citizen by networking, attending town halls, and participating in events that raise the corporate equity of this role, its team, and the department
- Completing in a timely manner all minimally required tasks such as timesheets, corporate training, and any other administrative requirements pertaining to the role
• Ability to breakdown complex problems using appropriate design patterns and best practices demonstrating a sound knowledge foundation and a sound approach to problem-solving
- Ability to engineer large, distributed platforms including end-to-end infrastructure, data, and application development
- Ability to the leverage continuous software development lifecycle to deliver features across multiple disciplines quickly and frequently
- Ability to conduct effective triage and remediation of production incidents with accompanying customer service and support for all clients of the platform
• Knowledge of data architectures (Lambda and Kappa) with experience in working with either
- Experience with supporting central platforms having multiple tenants
- Experience with building scalable platform operations in a Hybrid-Cloud environment
- Experience with working in an inner-sourcing model to crowd source intellectual property

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
