The Role

We are looking for a numerate graduate to join the Property Treaty reinsurance underwriting team as a Technical Assistant with a planned career pathway to Underwriting. Full study support will be provided to complete your Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) qualifications.

Based in London, the team write close to $200m of income over US and International clients. This role would be supporting the underwriting team with administrative and foundation underwriting tasks initially with the candidate able to progress toward underwriting as they develop.

We are looking for someone who continually strives for improvement to bringing greater administrative efficiency and to learn about the products that we underwrite, and who can demonstrate the ability to work closely with others and to form sound relationships with brokers/clients in time.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with all administrative duties for the team from beginning to end starting with the downloading of the broker submissions and modelling files until the end process when the business written is made live.
  • Managing all underwriting account file information
  • Ensuring information and documents are stored according to audit requirement
  • Liaising and coordinating with internal teams such as Credit Control, WNS (our in-house data processing team), Catastrophe Modelling team & Underwriting Operations
  • Communicating with credit control monthly and investigating premium discrepancies
  • Assisting with the Peer Review process
  • Maintaining and updating team tracking spreadsheets for new and renewal accounts to ensure Underwriters can view the latest up to date account information.
  • Assisting with team meetings as and when required
  • Supporting underwriters administration fulfilments & assisting or chasing where appropriate
  • Assisting with online processes for our internal systems incl. Quopro, PBQA - pre bind quality assurance, Sanctions and TOBA requests
  • Central contract point for onshore operations and WNS to maintain administration effectiveness

Skills and experience:

  • Degree in a numerical / statistical discipline (Economics, Science, Engineering etc.)
  • IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) literate to at least an intermediate level
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Organised, methodical, quick thinker
  • Willingness and desire to learn and develop
  • Demonstrable problem solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage workload priorities effectively
