If you are looking for an opportunity to develop your career in an exciting and supportive environment, look no further. We are a small authority with big ambitions, which is strategically based just north of London and the M25. Broxbourne Borough Council has a number of major developments underway, including Cheshunt Lakeside, Brookfield Garden Village and Sunset Studios Waltham Cross film production complex.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Council’s small and busy Planning administration team. This is a varied and interesting job which provides administrative support to the team.
The post holder will undertake the following duties:
- Validation and registering of planning applications
- Act as case officer on non-complex applications for lawful development certificates including making site visits, making assessments and the writing up of reports for such applications
- Production of monthly Planning and Regulatory Committee Powerpoint
- Participate in the general work of the Administration team
- Answering the telephone and providing administrative support to Planning Officers.
The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work unsupervised, using initiative. You will demonstrate a high standard of customer care, intermediate ICT skills and hold GCSE passes or equivalent in English and Maths.
Full training will be given, although it would be an advantage to have experience of working in a Planning department, including interpreting plans. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership of the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a golf centre and a range of discounts across other leisure and culture services.
