  • Research and diagnose common desktop support, network, security, and standard University applications needs across Windows and MacOS desktop environments, tablets, and phones.

  • Setting up computers including peripherals
  • Installing SDS software and upgrades
  • Updating non-Microsoft software upon request
  • Assisting with hardware and software asset management and reporting

  • Facilitate and support training documentation (including links, multi-media) for other departments as part of SDS Central (O365 sharepoint portal)
  • Perform computer and network troubleshooting and support
  • Work with outside companies to repair computers under warranty
  • Perform group printer troubleshooting and support
  • Perform tasks related to surplusing and disposing of computers
  • Provide frontline conference room (AV) support
  • Provide In-person or remote support for users who are in a University or University Foundation building
  • Support for remote or travelling users with remote support tools (users should plug in to a wired network at UVA at least once every six months to avoid Active Directory and log in issues)

Experience and interest in collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Office365, software, technology and computer-technical support is important, but most important is an attitude of being willing to learn, jump in, research solutions, be a team player and make things happen.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people and in a support role
  • Desire to learn and apply new knowledge, amidst a solid customer service mindset
