Your future role
To work as part of a team to service, maintain, repair and overhaul rolling stock, locomotives, plant and equipment including the latest generation in train technology. The team shall ensure the fleet is serviced, maintained and repaired in a safe and cost-effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality. In particular TCP shall carry out line of route support to maintain the highest level of service delivery.
We’ll look to you to:
- Work as directed by and in cooperation with the TCP Regional Co-ordinator / TcC PM or SPM observing start of shift notices and briefs.
- Comply with all Traincare Point / Traincare Centre protection procedures.
- Have an understanding and comply with all safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices including COSHH, EAWR & Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Understand and work within the Company policies on drugs and alcohol, Environment, Health and Safety and Quality.
- Use IT systems relating to work being done including systems related to safety, quality, reporting and training.
- Fault finding and repair.
- Work as part of a team ensuring work is completed on time and to specification.
- Support and coach other team members and cycle through local Traincare Centres for the purposes of training and development.
- Carry out Line of Route support including but not limited to:
- Attending trains as required.
- Attend train ‘incidents’.
- Recommend course of actions to Fleet Control Engineer.
- Carry out in-service repairs.
- Investigate and report on existing defects.
- Carry out train system downloads as required in accordance with company procedures.
- Ride trains as required to provide feedback to Engineering and/or reliability teams.
- Support Loco hauling operations.
- Carry out exams and checks as required.
- Relocate to support the service during engineering work and or service disruption.

Educational Requirements:
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications.
- Must have NVQ Level 3 electrical qualifications or equivalent.
- (ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent.
- Dual skilled (mechanical and electrical)
Desired Knowledge / Experience:
- Experience of working to procedures, work instructions and vehicle maintenance
- instructions
- Knowledge, and practical experience of train maintenance
- Experience of mentoring and instructing other team members
