WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Our Big Data platform is now used by the bank to power all new digital applications. Data is at the heart of our transformation through the application of new technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and other open source technology and the adoption of new methods of work. We follow agile principles and take new approaches to software delivery, using test driven development and a continuous integration platform.
We’re responsible for the end-to-end and side-to-side aspects of the data business, from data integration and exploitation, data modelling and architecture to data governance. We design, test and deploy applications and are responsible for the strategy through to implementation, change management and communication.
As a team they are driven, agile and lean and work in a fast-paced, challenging and collaborative environment and always seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial attitude who want their work to have real impact.

Being an important part of the team as a cloud data Engineer as we strategically land our Digital programmes of work.
Engaging with the product teams, technical leads and lead engineers to ensure projects are being delivered
Delivering by design, test and deploy applications that are responsible for defining the strategy
Utilising agile methodology whilst embracing software architecture to deliver solution design
Delivering high quality product and services to exceed customers expectation.
Managing a team of 6 people
What you’ll bring.
The successful candidate will be expected to have the following experience/skills:
Proven experience as a lead or a senior software engineer in software delivery teams.
Experience and knowledge of Java, Scala, Python, SQL & Springboot.
Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira and Confluence tools.
Kafka, RabbitMQ and other messaging frameworks.
Kubernetes experience
Experience with test automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery including containers.
It would also be nice for you to have.
Experience with AWS
Adopting Agile engineering processes (Scrum/Kanban, DevOps, CI/CD, BDD/TDD test automation).
Excellent stakeholder management skills
Solid engineering foundations, and experience within streaming engineering

Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus
We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer
30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year
