We have an exciting new role in our Adult and Community Services (ACS), Specialist Directs Payment Review Team as a Team Manager, based at Landmark House in Ipswich.

Provision of Direct Payments that enable greater choice and control for adults is enshrined in the Care Act. We know that increased uptake of Direct Payments will be central to social care reform. In ACS, we have the ambition to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Direct Payment offer.

To achieve our ambitions, we first need to work with those who already receive Direct Payments, completing reviews and ensuring they have coproduced, clear and meaningful support plans in place.

We are establishing a countywide team approach to enable consistency, get our reviews up-to-date and support improvements in our Direct Payment delivery across ACS.

To make this happen we need a team manager with the passion and energy to lead and coordinate this new centralised Direct Payments Team as well as use their skills and knowledge to shape and influence our refreshed Direct Payment offer.

Role and responsibilities

The main purpose of this new role is to develop, directly manage and lead on the delivery of Direct Payment reviews across the county, ensuring practice is personalised, of the highest quality and delivers the best outcomes for Adults and Carers. This new team will be comprised of experienced Social Workers, Independence and Wellbeing Practitioners (IWPs) and Financial Inclusion and Advice Service (FIAS) DP Finance Officers. You will report to the Senior management team of ACS.

You will:

  • manage a countywide Specialist Direct Payments Review Team
  • be responsible for frontline staff who review Direct Debit payments across social work services within ACS
  • support the Senior Management Team, who will be responsible for the operational delivery within it
  • work with area teams, FIAS, contract and service development and transformational teams and other relevant departments to understand, develop and share good practice in the area of Direct Payments, ensuring sharing of information to inform practice and new ways of working.

You will need to:

  • be a qualified and registered social worker, occupational therapist, or a member of other relevant professions
  • have experience in a leadership role and an excellent grasp of relevant legislation, policy and practice
  • the ability to manage resources well and deliver savings
  • have the motivation to provide the best possible outcomes for our customers.
