Position: POAS Team Leader
Company: Office of Public Guardian (OPG), Power of Attorney Services (PoAS), Operations Directorate.

Grade / Salary: Executive Officer (£25,827 minimum)

Overview
Power of Attorney Services (POAS) processes incoming power of attorney applications on behalf of the Public Guardian, within agreed targets and performance indicators. POAS comes under the Operations directorate of the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG.)

Our Birmingham office is located centrally within walking distance to Birmingham New Street and Snow Hill train stations as well as the Mailbox and Broad Street.
Job Description, Duties and Responsibilities
The role advertised is for a Team Leader with direct line management of a team of administration officers within POAS, based in Birmingham.
There are various functions within POAS such as post, scanning, payments, filing, casework, registration, quality assurance and complaints.
Successful applicants will be allocated to roles based on business needs at the time of recruitment. All staff from Administration Office to Higher Executive Officer are mobile grade within the civil services, therefore movement within the POAS and OPG will be dependent on business needs.
The successful candidates will be based in Birmingham but may on occasion be required to travel to our other site in Nottingham. You will support and contribute to performance of the POAS 40 Day AACT by ensuring your teams targets are met.
- You will ensure staff achieve Minimum Performance Expectations agreed in your area and quality target of 95%.
- You will perform regular dip sampling/quality checks of your team’s stat sheets/work, providing feedback, monitoring and reducing downtime.
- You’ll work with other Team Leaders review processes, make recommendations for improvements to enhance the customer experience contributing to continuous improvement opportunities.
- You will organise, lead and participate in team meetings, developing working relationships across your department, POAS, Operations directorate and wider OPG.
- You will act as a role model for staff, demonstrating behaviours within the MOJ Leadership statement and OPG values.
- You will proactively manage the team’s wellbeing by engaging with staff regularly and supporting contributing to wider engagement plans.
- You’ll be clear, honest, transparent in your communication and leadership, making decisions that involve the relevant people at the right time.
- Manage your team within the office and remotely, providing support and guidance to help them continue to perform their roles in a safe environment
- You will regularly review operational processes in your area and identify areas for improvement, supporting your teams through change.
- You will develop your staff ensuring they receive the appropriate training and support for their job role.
- You’ll take responsibility for your own learning and development with the support and guidance from your line manager.
- You will promote and implement diversity and equality of opportunity in all areas of work supporting initiatives within the organisation.
- You’ll have a good knowledge of HR policies where you will identify poor performance, attendance and conduct issues taking action as appropriate in accordance with MOJ policy, whilst also recognising positive performance using reward and recognition schemes.
- You’ll contribute to the development of business transformation finding ways to be efficient, flexible and exploiting digital channels.
- You’ll take responsibility for the health and safety of others and abide by relevant Health and Safety Procedures and policy.
- You may be asked to undertake ad-hoc projects as agreed with Unit and Delivery Managers which are in line with the skill set of this post.
