Team Leader – home care
Responsible to: Care Manager
Work pattern: Full time
Right at Home is a friendly, local homecare provider which recognises that its staff are its greatest asset. We are looking for a Team Leader who is friendly, caring, reliable, and patient. You will need good verbal communication skills and have a genuine desire to help others.
Purpose of the position
There are four main areas of responsibility within this role:
1. CareGiver – providing high quality care and support to some regular clients.
2. Team Leader for CareGivers – to coach and support a team of CareGivers, ensuring they are delivering great care, feel supported and coaching them to continually improve.
3. Team Leader for Clients – to act as a key point of contact from initial assessment through to review and change of care requirements. To maintain regular contact and ensure clients and their families feel they have personal attention and that we really do care about them.
4. On Call Duties – to take responsibility for handling and dealing with any incoming calls during out of office hours, ensuring we provide an appropriate response.
Key Accountabilities
1. CareGiver
2. Team Leader for CareGivers
- Support your team of caregivers, maintaining weekly contact to ensure they feel supported and valued at all times
- Support new CareGivers to complete their induction checklist / Care Certificate
- Complete effective Spot Checks and Supervisions as required
- Complete the CareGivers annual Appraisal
- Show solidarity with the rest of the Right at Home senior team, always supporting new initiatives and company policy.
3. Team Leader for Clients
- Support your clients, maintaining regular contact to check they are happy with the service provided and we adapt to their changing needs.
- Maintain regular contact with the client’s family so they feel well supported and have peace of mind
- Complete effective Client Reviews as required
- Resolve to the client’s satisfaction any issues or complaints that arise from your clients.
4. On Call Duties
- Take the on call duties on a rota with the other team leaders
- When on call, handle all calls professionally and appropriately
- Resolve any issues as they occur
- Document all calls and actions taking – being clear of any follow up actions needed
- Hand over the on call info to the office after the on call duty.
5. Networking & Building the Business
- Build and enhance awareness and the reputation of Right at Home in the community by;
- Always making a point of raising awareness of the quality care that Right at Home provides to potential referrers as you work (e.g. Housing wardens, Community Nurses, GPs, etc)
- Leave Right at Home literature in appropriate places
- Identify opportunities to promote our Recommended Partners.
6. Help grow the team
- Encourage your team of CareGivers to recommend a friend
- Leave recruitment leaflets wherever you can
- Talk about Right at Home to any potential recruits.
7. Professional Development
- Aim to continuously build and enhance your knowledge and experience by learning as you work from others in the team and professionals you meet in the field
- Attend refresher training or additional training as and when needed.
