Team Leader
Birmingham
As a Barclays Team Leader you will be working within Trade & Working Capital who are part of COO Operations, and is made up of Documentary Trade products such as BGI’s, Letters of Credit, Collections and Trade Loans as well as Open Account which is primarily focused on Invoice Discounting. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the documentary trade team, including performance management and workflow management ensuring the team meet Service Level targets.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. What will you be doing?
- Leading performance management of the team through individual performance plans, setting of objectives and regular reviews
- Developing a high performing team culture through regular communication, coaching, team building and performance management
- Working with team leaders in other locations such as India to ensure SLA performance is maintained
- Identifying training needs within the team and managing the roll out and delivery of training ensuring all team members understand milestones and measures of success
- Applying the formal HR processes as appropriate to deal with cases of poor or inappropriate conduct-DC&G, H&S, Sickness
- Owning the team capacity planning and forecasting both short and long term to enable effective manpower and resourcing requirements using tools such as AOMi
- Coordinating holiday, sickness and absence leave to ensure that the team has sufficient cover at all times
- Building relationships with process customers and stakeholders, recommending and responding to process improvement suggestions
What we’re looking for:
- Similar experience working in a Team Leading capacity
- Exposure to Risk Management where you have the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures and make sound, risk based decisions
- Ability to drive consistent operational excellence by improving the client journey and colleague experience as well as strengthening our end to end controls
- Excellent organisational skills where you can prioritise workloads effectively
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Previous experience of working in a Trade environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the workings of the different products
- Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to be proactive, flexible, hardworking and accurate with a “can do” attitude

Barclays Snowhill is at the heart of the professional district and commands a workforce of around 1000. With great transport links to Birmingham Grand Central and Snowhill train stations as well as the local metro. Our office has a dedicated staff coffee shop and deli and break out areas for staff.
