Lead the day to day business and strategic direction for a global meetings and events division as part of a large medical education team delivering immersive and engaging training tools and experiences across the life sciences industry.

We are in search of a talented business leader, creative leader, meetings and events global expert, and creative thinker/problem-solver to help shape the events expression of our work and help to manage our rapid growth in alignment with our culture and values. The team delivers hundreds of events around the world with a solid mix of virtual and face to face. The role is supported by a team of Event Project Managers. Within the larger team, these planners collaborate with other areas of expertise - strategy, creative, content, project management, account management, business operations, and execution.

This position is home-based with frequent collaboration with a globally-distributed team. Direct and indirect reports are located in the US, Argentina, and Europe. About the Team Lead, Event Management

Collaborating with the inquisitive and imaginative minds within the division and partnering with a second Team lead, this role will drive the expansion and continuous improvement for the meetings and events team. The Team Lead will report to the Director, Strategic Business Operations.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with broader project teams in the planning, budgeting, forecasting and allocation of staff for existing and new business and working with stakeholders to enhance team building and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Continual analysis of tools, technologies and processes to ensure optimal efficient delivery

  • Leadership and line management of event planners (FTE and contractors). Responsible for hiring, resourcing, engaging and retaining global team

  • Incident management support and point of escalation

  • Participate in the development and delivery of new business proposals and RFIs/RFPs, maximizing business opportunities with both existing and new clients and contributing to the development of new solutions and services - presenting concepts and facilitating discussions as required.

  • Some face to face and virtual meeting delivery management including travel during high volume periods

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Who You Are

You have high emotional intelligence and experience delivering events globally and managing teams of global staff. You have planned and delivered events for both clinical and commercial sectors of the life sciences industry. You have supported both virtual and face to face events and are interested in continuing to build systems that support a mix of both event types. You enjoy creating events for a diverse global audience of physicians and care teams who are passionate about exploring new treatments for patients and improving the health of their communities. The insights of other subject matter experts are valuable to your work and you know how to discover the unknown using your unique approach.

You may not know all the answers, but you have a proven track record of working through difficult challenges by independently researching potential directions, collaborating with others, and iterating to find solutions. You continue to build on your foundation of event planning principles by learning new applications and thought processes and keeping up with industry trends.

Seasoned:

You have extensive experience demonstrating 10+ years of event delivery expertise.

In addition to extensive expertise you have 3+ years of leadership experience within event planning, managing teams with multiple direct reports – ideally managing global teams.

Creative:

You are an unstoppable force while working through creative challenges, establishing and evolving event designs, and refining the details to deliver an exceptional participant experience.

Lead:

You are highly effective at contributing to a matrixed system – navigating processes within your authority and those that are not. Mentoring fellow planners and helping teammates to understand process brings you joy. You believe in building trust within a team by being open to feedback, offering supportive guidance, and cracking a joke when the team needs a good laugh.
