Redcastle Family School opened its new Moonbeam Special Resource Base to children with autism in 2021. Comprising of two class spaces, a sensory room, a break out space and a shared teaching space. This is a chance for someone with the right skills to join our team at the start of a special journey. Moonbeam opened initially for children in years 1-5 with social communication difficulties. Our mainstream staff and children are enjoying sharing in our goal of being a truly autism friendly environment.
Successful candidates will be reliable, patient and loyal, with a good sense of humour and strength of character. It will be necessary to have experience of working with children with autism and special needs, ideally with evidence of working with resources such as Zones of regulation, Picture Exchange Communication System and Sensory Circuits. It will also be necessary to use Norfolk Steps to ensure children are kept safe. The post holder will be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, along with having sound numeracy skills.
