Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) Schedule: Monday-Thursday 3-6pm; Friday 2-4pm; Saturday mornings as needed Summary:The Teaching Assistant will support extended day campus and classroom operations by helping out wherever is needed in order to best serve our students.. This position primarily assists with food service, student supervision, academic assistance, field trips and student transportation. Duties & Responsibilities: Administration / Professional Abide by all school policies and procedures Ensure a positive and constructive relationship with administration and teachers Communicate with colleagues, students and parents in an effective manner Model behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible Partake in professional development to enhance skills related to job assignment Food Service Retrieve from and return to the service kitchen all necessary snack service materials Follow established procedures to record and distribute snacks to students Ensure the correct portions and items are served to each student Supervise students while eating snack and monitor clean up Enrichment Develop engaging or implement provided lesson plans in a variety of content areas Supervise a group of students to ensure safety and learning Take attendance and complete other required paperwork Monitor the clock to ensure timely transitions between periods Extended Study Hall Take attendance and ensure all students are accounted for Maintain a study-focused environment for students Offer homework help on a variety of academic subjects Supervise the dismissal of students by following established procedures Take students home using company vehicle, as needed Field Trips Assist the coordinator with day of trip organization, including parent contact Act as a chaperone, supervising a group of students while on trips Safely operate a 15 passenger van in order to transport children on trips Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, college work preferred One year of relevant experience required, prior teaching or education experience preferred Willingness to work in a dynamic, child-centered environment Willingness to respond with flexibility and enthusiasm to change Ability to manage groups of children ages 10-14 years old This description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis.
