Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to gain teaching experience at the University of Sheffield, a world top-100 University. As a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Computer Science, you will form part of an energetic team of teaching specialists who support laboratory practical sessions and provide student support (e.g. through one-to-one and small group drop-in sessions). You will also give feedback on student work and assess coursework and examinations under the close supervision of an academic.
This position is fixed-term (20 months) and provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience of university teaching. Training will be provided on-the-job and you will work in a team environment, liaising closely with academic staff, graduate teaching assistants and other teaching specialists.
You will have a good first degree, and preferably a Masters degree, in computer science or a closely related subject area. You should be able to demonstrate that you are well-qualified to teach foundational aspects of mathematics, programming, algorithms and software engineering. You will be an excellent communicator and team player, with an ability to plan and prioritise your work.
