Job description
The Perse is one of the country’s leading co-educational independent day schools, providing a high quality education to pupils aged 3-18 in Cambridge.
The Perse Prep is looking to appoint a high calibre Science Teaching Assistant to support this key department, starting in September 2023. The Science Teaching Assistant will work alongside Science teachers, assisting in the labs, working with groups of children and offering support to individual pupils as directed. In addition to this support in the classroom, the TA will be expected to support the Science Department and prepare and clear away materials and equipment for both laboratories.
The Science TA may be expected to run small support groups at certain break times, and may be asked to cover lessons when staff are absent.
As with all staff, TAs undertake a range of playground and lunch duties. They are also expected to attend one of the academic admissions events during the year.
They will be expected to take a proactive role in the pastoral life of the children in the school, working with form teachers, Heads of Year and the Assistant Head (Pastoral) to promote the general progress and well-being of all pupils in their care.
The role is full time, term time only. Salary is pro rata from £21,477 FTE.
