£19,174 - £20,070 per annum (£10.70 - £11.20 per hour) | Term Time

As part of several very exciting developments, we are expanding our provisions and therefore delighted to announce the planned opening of a further independent co-educational school. The Grange School will provide learning and supportive environment activities for 60 primary and secondary aged children and young people from across Key Stages 2-4. Phoenix Learning and Care support students with Mental Health difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties and associated complex needs.
Due to this exciting development, we are looking to recruit several Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Teaching Assistants (TAs). This is a wonderful opportunity for those new to the profession who are enthusiastic to work with students with a variety of special educational needs and those who have experience of working within this specialist area already. It is a great chance to develop your practice in a dynamic and therapeutic environment where a strong and united team ethic will ensure that the needs of our young people are at the centre of everything we do.
Skills and Requirements:
- Knowledge of the importance of effective safeguarding
- An ability to support the delivery of high-quality lessons, tailored to the needs of individual students and small groups
- An understanding of children with special educational needs, including skills in managing behaviours that challenge
- A desire to work/experience of working with SEND children and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- Flexibility and resilience to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our students
- An ability to reassurance to students at times of need
You will work with children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs, including those on the autistic spectrum and with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. You will have a passion for teaching and learning, with a specific focus on creating successful opportunities for our students within a nurturing environment.
Within your role you will be required:
- to support teachers to deliver a bespoke curriculum which is tailored to the needs of our students
- to use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support students to achieve learning and EHCP goals
- to create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans
- to assist with the display of students’ work
- to assist with the planning of learning activities
- to monitor students’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement / progress as directed
- to provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers relating to a student’s achievements, progress and problems
- to promote good student behaviour through dealing effectively with conflict and incidents in line with established policies and encouraging students, where appropriate, to take responsibility for their own behaviour
- to work with students, both inside and outside the classroom, in small groups or 1:1 sessions
- to value the importance of collaborative working practices
