NOW Education are seeking psychology graduates/ students looking for a way into teaching or supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health problems. By becoming a teaching assistant in schools, you can gain excellent experience that may either lead to becoming a fully qualified teacher, or pursue careers in child psychology and mental health avenues.
Working as a teaching assistant is one of the best ways to get your foot in the door and taking your first steps into an exciting, rewarding and ever-changing career in education. We are currently working closely with a number of Secondary and SEND schools across Leicestershire that are looking to add to their established teams. Your role would be to work alongside staff to help improve on students progress and performance, manage challenging behaviours and help develop the whole student. You will help to create a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment for students that may have experienced large gaps in their education or currently be experiencing crisis or trauma. You will be supported by experienced supportive staff and will be offered CPD and training throughout.
Our schools cater to students and young people with a range of complex medical needs, a range of additional learning needs as well as challenging and at times violent behaviours. Your role is to help students overcome their barriers to learning and success and help them achieve their full potential in their academic development.
Successful applicants duties will include;
- Supporting the class teacher with the planning and delivery of lessons
- Supporting the progress of pupils, both behaviourally and educationally
- Assisting in providing effective support and teaching on a one to one basis or in small groups
- Preparing classroom resources and activities
- Some schools may require elements of personal care and use of hoists/ moving and handling

Salary: £74.00-£95.00 per day
