Are you a skilled British Sign Language (BSL) practitioner looking for an exciting opportunity in a highly regarded all through school? Look no further! We are seeking a BSL Teaching Assistant to join our Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' all located in Wandsworth, South West London, starting in September.
About the Role:
As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of children with hearing impairment in our school's vibrant SEND department. This is a long-term, full-time contract position, with working hours from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to three new students joining our school in September who require assistance with their hearing impairment.
- Utilize your BSL skills confidently as the primary form of communication with the students.
- Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to ensure the smooth running of the class.
- Support and engage with students, inspiring them to make good and sustained progress.
- Establish strong relationships with students and staff, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Adapt to challenges and follow appropriate protocols to facilitate effective learning experiences.
Requirements:
- Hold a British Sign Language (B.S.L.) qualification, Level 1 or above.
- Possess experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Ability to relay B.S.L. from hearing-impaired students to non-signing students.
- Dedication, engagement, and inspiration in your approach to teaching.
- Commitment to ensuring pupils make significant and sustained progress.
