Teaching Assistant

HRGO Education are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant for a Primary School in Ipswich. This is a full-time position working with a Year 1 child. The school are looking to fill this position with a ASAP start due to being given additional funding for the student. This role will require the successful candidate to be calm, understanding and patient with the student, whilst supporting their learning both in the classroom and in a 1:1 environment (sensory room, library etc.)
The school is a 2 form entry Primary School based in South Ipswich, the school has a supportive, caring SLT who can provide regular CPD and ongoing training. The school has a large outdoor playing area, alongside specific inclusion rooms/sensory rooms to allow children with additional needs to have a safe space to calm down, when needed.
As an SEN TA, you'll typically need to:
- Follow instructions from Teachers to support effectively in the classroom
- Adhere to professional practice standards and legislation, including confidentiality, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion policies
- Support the student on 1:1 basis, adapting your approach on a case-by-case basis to engage students effectively. Some children might need support with personal care.
- Help children with learning and development
Pay & Working Hours
Seasonal or relief teaching assistants are typically paid between £9.50 and £13.50 per hour. Income figures are intended as a guide only. Full-time Teaching Assistants usually work between 32 & 35 hours per week. Starting the school day at 8.30am and finishing at 3.30pm with a 30-minute lunch break. There are also part-time, casual and job share options available.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, but it may become permanent later upon school discretion.
