About the Post
We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a fixed term contract until 31/08/2024 to join our school. Christchurch Junior School is a large, popular community school, which caters for almost 500 children aged between 7 and 11 years. The children spend four years here. The classes are organised in year groups hosting four classes each. We are an inclusive school and welcome children from all walks of life and all faiths. The children enjoy excellent facilities in purpose-built premises, which were constructed in 2001. Our facilities include a well-stocked Library and specialist teaching areas for Music and Computing. In 2011 we opened Old Building, purpose-built accommodation for serving hot meals which also provides additional teaching and learning space with a suite of Music rooms. We take pride in our school’s support for music and sport, and our playing field has recently been enhanced by a non-turf cricket pitch. The school is a member of the Christchurch Learning Partnership of schools that work closely together to ensure high quality provision for all local school children.

Who we are looking for
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C (9-4), including Maths and English, or equivalent.
- Know and be able to apply consistently a range of school policies, particularly those regarding health and safety, equal opportunities, behaviour management, child protection and special educational needs (SEN).
- Have the necessary skills to manage safely, the classroom activities, the physical learning space and the resources for which s/he is responsible.
- Understand and be able to use a range of strategies to deal with classroom behaviour as a whole and also individual behavioural needs.
- Take personal responsibility for their own professional development.
- Be flexible and be able to use initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
