Job description
CWA are recruiting for additional Learner Support Officers to join our team based at our Cambridge (Milton) campus on a range of full-time or part0time contracts. All roles are term time only and a variety of hours are on offer.
CWA is committed to ensuring that all of our learners have access to high quality education and support to give them the best possible education experience. We work carefully with our learners and external partners to establish where additional support may be required and deliver this through classroom interventions and support delivered by our highly skilled Learner Support Officer team.
These roles cover a range of students to include those in our foundation studies programme, learners with emotional, developmental or other needs. The LSO team works closely with designated students to provide targeted support in whichever way it is needed and can range from assisting with reading and scribing, ensuring learning aids are set up and some personal care on either a one to one or group basis. Our LSOs work closely with academic staff to ensure that support is well structured and in line with both the students needs and the course material.
Due to continued investment in the development and future of our students we are looking to recruit to additional Learner Support Officer roles across all of our campuses. We have a variety of hours available from full time to more ad hoc and casual arrangements. There is the opportunity to work across multiple campuses.
Working as a Learner Support Officer is rewarding, and enables our post holders to achieve a real work/life balance. These roles are for term-time only meaning that you are only required to work 36 weeks per year. As an educational establishment we are committed to ensure that all of our staff have a minimum of a level 2 qualification in both English and Maths. We have a track record of upskilling and supporting our staff to achieve these qualifications, as well as ensuring that career development opportunities are available to all.
We ensure that our LSOs are fully supported and provide comprehensive and bespoke training, taking additional care with those new to the profession. We invest in you with time, training and support to enable you to truly succeed in your career with CWA.
We are a successful, community-focused FE College based in the East of England. We have a thriving student services team and in recent years, the department has grown from strength to strength. We offer an incredible training package and a chance to work within tight knit and supportive teams.
We offer an excellent package including a generous annual leave allowance of 30 days per year for support staff, plus Bank Holidays (reflected in pay for part-year staff), fee waivers on some College courses, a contributory pension scheme with the Local Government Pension Scheme (current employer contribution is 22.2%), discounts with local businesses and access to a cycle to work scheme. CWA focusses on staff well-being and utilises both internal and external resources, such as a well-being committee and access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme as well as comprehensive training and development.
