Overview
Teaching Assistant required for September 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Salary details: Currently £20,297 - £21,223 Full Time Equivalent (FTE)
Actual Salary approx: £13,230 - £13,834 per annum
Contract type: Fixed term, term time only from September 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Hours: 29.16 hours per week (possibly more), term time only

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our dedicated support staff team at Whitchurch Combined School. We are looking for a hardworking, resilient person with a sense of fun who will always put the children first and is able to respond appropriately to the wide ranging needs of our pupils. We anticipate that the successful candidate will work with an individual child.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Work with and support individual children on a 1:1 basis and groups on specific activities;
- Constructively help children participate in activities by adapting and/or interpreting lessons and instructions accordingly.
- Implement support plans for identified child / children;
- Assist with the general management, supervision and organisation of children and any resources related to the children's needs.
- Assist with the supervision of children within the classroom and all other areas of the school as necessary.
- Undertake lunchtime duties and supervision
About you
Previous experience of working with children is essential.
We are looking for candidates who can show that they have:
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience of working with children with special educational needs
- The ability to use their own initiative;
- The ability to show patience, always remaining calm and consistent;
- A warm and approachable manner towards others
- Well organised but also flexible enough to respond to the needs and enthusiasms of the child.
