Salary Range: £46,035 - £50,158 per annum (with possible progression to £54,140 per annum), with up to 3 SPA points and an additional Home Office Allowance
Work Location: Home based (travel across Hampshire required)

The Role:
We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about strong provision and outcomes for children with special educational needs and has a breadth of experience, knowledge and strategies to support frontline practitioners in meeting those needs.
  • Is comfortable providing both support and challenge to schools to improve outcomes for children experiencing vulnerability.
  • Wants to contribute to the strategic direction of these new roles.

The postholder will play a key role in the strengthening and effectiveness of earlier help and intervention at SEN support across both Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Early intervention is a key priority within the Children’s Services Strategy 2022-2027. A key aspect of the role is to provide support and challenge to mainstream schools, working alongside a wide range of other services provided by Hampshire County Council (HCC) and the Isle of Wight (IoW) Council teams. The postholders will contribute to building capacity within schools to strengthen further the outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs. The ability to correctly identify underlying needs and communicate effective routes to improvement will be key to success.

Teaching and Learning Advisers are expected to:

  • Work with the full range of schools and providers, demonstrating best practice and providing effective advice.
  • Provide training and consultancy to schools in order to raise standards of achievement for children.
  • Promote and secure equity of provision and outcomes for children experiencing vulnerability relative to their peers.
  • Build capacity in schools enabling all children to achieve strong outcomes.
