Job description
We’re looking to appoint an outstanding Classroom Practitioner to work across the Social Sciences Departments which currently consist of a Curriculum Leader for Psychology, Sociology and Health and Social Care, a Teacher of Psychology and Health and Social Care and a Curriculum Leader for Criminology and Law.
With a record number applications to Sixth Form as well as an increasing number of students picking subjects within the department at Level 2 and Level 3, we are looking for the successful candidate to teach across three of the subjects which are currently on offer. At Level 2 we offer Health and Social Care, GCSE Sociology and GCSE Psychology. At Level 3 we offer Level 3 Health and Social Care, Level 3 Applied Law, Level 3 Criminology, A Level Psychology and BTEC Psychology with the opportunity to offer A Level Sociology from September 2024. The willingness to contribute towards the Law and Sociology teaching would be desirable but not essential and timetabling and CPD within the subjects is done to best fit staff expertise and willingness to enhance their knowledge to teach a broad range of subjects and is done fairly in order to build upon our own subject knowledge.
You would be joining a small and supportive team within the school, which holds several years of teaching experience along with them being examiners, experts within their field, even studying at postgraduate level. With that in mind, this role would be ideal for an ECT as well as another experienced member of staff to join the already successful team. The department values CPD and staff development and there would be an opportunity to work towards the NPQML with future subject leadership in mind for an applicant who has completed their ECT years as well as a supportive induction programme for an ECT to exceed and develop as they start their career in teaching with staff who have had trainee teachers and worked with ECTs previously.
Closing date: 9.00am, Thursday 9th March 2023
