The Role:
Summer School Teachers are valued members of the Yellow Wood Academy (YWA) Education Team. Working in close collaboration with educational leadership, fellow teachers, and staff, Summer School Teachers interact directly with students to advance their individualized learning goals and growth experience at YWA.
We are seeking teachers in multiple subject areas. In your response, please indicate the area(s) in which you have applicable skills for teaching one or more of the following subjects for grades 4 – 12.
- Math and physics
- English and language arts
- Science (multiple areas)
- Reading intervention
General Education Teachers at Yellow Wood Academy:
- Provide 1:1 and/or small group instruction, and support student engagement in the YWA summer school program.
- Attend staffing meetings for students and collaborate with the team to ensure effective instructional strategies are shared and implemented for summer students.
- Maintain up-to-date grades, student work samples, and goal progress.
- Read and utilize all relevant documentation for students with whom you work, including IEPs, student profiles, neuropsychological evaluations and other updates.
- Consistently foster and manage a safe and positive learning environment.
- Track and use student IEP data under the direction of the Student Services team.
- Substitute for other teachers as needed.
- Adapt curriculum design, pacing and materials to fully engage students.
- Maintain a commitment to high standards for student achievement.
- Provide individual differentiation for the learning needs of students.
- Attend all required trainings.
Qualifications Needed for General Education Teacher:
- Bachelor's Degree in related subject; Washington State teaching certification desired
- Prior professional experience as a lead teacher in primary or secondary education, tutoring center or applicable educational organization is desired.
- We will also consider non-certificated professionals with applicable degree interested in a career path in teaching and education.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $78,089.00 per year
