About the role
As the Group Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the month-end and year-end close process using Cognos, our Group consolidation system. You will take ownership of Cognos, providing essential support to accounting users across all locations to ensure high-quality month-end and year-end reporting. Additionally, you will support the preparation of Group financial statements and assist the Group Financial Controller in coordinating audit processes. Your proactive approach will drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls within the finance department.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end and year-end close process in Cognos, the Group consolidation system.
- Assist in preparing financial and other internal/external reports from Cognos. Lead and provide Cognos support to accounting users across all locations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Make improvements to Cognos to enhance its support for reporting requirements. Support the preparation of Group financial statements and ensure audit readiness.
- Assist with the preparation of weekly/monthly cash forecasting to optimize efficient cash usage. Handle month-end accounting for holding companies in Sage X3 (soon to be Oracle).
- Participate in project teams focused on financial systems, control, and compliance.
- Contribute to the professionalization and process improvement of the group finance department.
- Develop and document business processes to strengthen internal controls over the month-end and year-end process.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change in the Group finance function.

Experience and Attributes we’d like to see:
- Relevant work experience in Accountancy or Audit in a large SME or small multinational.
- Systems-focused, with preferable experience in Cognos or other consolidation solutions.
- Thorough accounting and reporting knowledge with an understanding of IFRS.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain an overview of financial processes.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
Nice to Have Experience:
- Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or some post-qualification experience.
