Interim TA Contingent Workforce Lead


The opportunity

The Contingent Workforce Lead is responsible for management and continuous improvement of the firms Contingent Workforce strategy, operating model, policies and processes. This role is a manager grade (L3) role.


This is a maternity leave cover role for 12 months.

Your key responsibilities

  • Take overall accountability for delivery of Contingent Workforce hiring for UKI EY
  • Oversee our Managed Service Provider, supporting their delivery and managing performance against strategic priorities to ensure we move forward in an effective partnership
  • Lead the development and delivery key strategic initiatives delivering significant service improvements
  • Enablement and activation of the Contingent Workforce model within EY’s various Service Line groups to drive adoption, and align capability with the needs to stakeholders, especially Virtual Bench capability, and promote consistency of operation and performance
  • Act as an escalation point to troubleshoot any service issues, whether they are process, people or technology and resolve quickly, as well as identifying, scoping and driving continuous improvements
  • Work collaboratively with our Global Procurement team and offshore supplier analytics team to track and measure KPIs, SLAs and resolve invoicing and billing issues
  • Own and drive bespoke solutions and support special situations (e.g. complex oversees contractor management solutions, Statement of Work situations)
  • Act as SME for Contingent Workforce advising on pitches for new client work, where there is a significant Contingent Workforce component
  • Act as Contingent Workforce expert supporting the integration of new acquisitions where target organisation has a Contingent Workforce capability
  • Act as an expert on Contingent Workforce for our Employment and Contract Lawyers, Audit Independence team, Quality and Risk Management, Data Privacy, InfoSec and Employment Tax teams, often working collaboratively to resolve complex problems
  • Take accountability for management of key risks associated with contingent workforce eg AWR, IR35 and GDPR
  • Take accountability for the technology platforms associated with Contingent Workforce including timesheeting, billing, ATS, CRM capabilities both owning the technology pipeline and roadmap, and acting as functional expert and country super user, as well as driving implementation programmes as PM
  • Operate as part of the extended Recruiting Leadership team, contributing to leadership calls and meetings with updates, and enabling other teams (eg Experienced Hire) to support the Contingent Workforce model and taking forward opportunities to collaborate effectively


Skills/Experience required:

  • Significant experience of Contractor recruitment and management, ideally managing or working within a Managed Service Provider, and/or managing multi £million contracts
  • Experience working within a professional services environment (desirable) and/or experience navigating a complex, fast moving environment
  • Project management skills, delivering multiple workstreams, leading matrix managed teams across multiple locations
  • Experience of delivering process excellence
  • Change management and communications skills
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, often under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, problem solve and exercise judgement under time pressure
  • Strong track record of creating commercially effective solutions to complex problems
  • Analytically strong approach to data, reporting and procedure
  • Core understanding of legal and regulatory factors effecting engagement of contingent workers such as Agency Worker Regulations and IR35
  • Ideally some experience of relevant systems such as SAP Fieldglass or an equivalent Contractor Management solution
