Job description
Acts as primary computer technician at the branch or branches assigned, providing troubleshooting, maintenance and service of hardware and software to both the public and staff. Provides technical training to staff and patrons.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance for hardware and software problems on public and staff computers & other devices efficiently, thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Act as technical advisor to staff and library users in conjunction with the IT staff concerning computer hardware, software and internet applications.
- Assist other members of IT with implementation and maintenance of software, hardware and network services.
- Provide technical training for staff and the public, both in-house and offsite.
- Assists with workforce development manager to provide technical support and training to staff and patrons.
- Assists with researching, recommending, and implementing technology upgrades.
- Provides support and maintains contract for library hotspot program
- Assist in maintaining active directory, VPN setup, test proctoring, online chat, door counters, phone system, and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate degree, technical school certification, or equivalent experience- Thorough understanding of computer hardware and software with one year of working experience with hardware and/or software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft, IOS, Android, Chrome OS & Adobe products.
- A service-oriented attitude with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
- Flexibility in work habits, including ability to work independently and in cooperation with
colleagues and library patrons.
- Familiarity with eBooks and their applications.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push or pull 25-100 lbs.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, climb, and crouch in order to retrieve, place and replace computer equipment and cables.
- Ability to manage and use small (non-power) tools.
- Must be able to move throughout physical facilities and some rather tight spots and have good balance.
- Must have or obtain valid driver's license and have available transportation at hours other than provided by public transit.
