Job description
We are looking for a collaborative and innovative Systems Engineer to join our Bristol based vehicle systems team. The Systems Engineer will join the Rheinmetall Defence UK Engineering organisation delivering technical expertise across a variety of UK and overseas Rheinmetall Trials, Demonstrations, Developments and Delivery Programmes.
The Systems Engineer will, under the guidance of the RDUK Engineering Manager, provide Systems Engineering subject matter expertise across RDUK and RLS Programmes and sites enabling successful Programme delivery.
The Systems Engineer will provide model based systems engineering expertise and requirements derivation and management across system and sub system designs spanning concept, development, demonstration and production phases of the lifecycle,
The Systems Engineer will develop strong, collaborative and professional relationships with key internal stakeholders within the UK and Germany (particularly Kassel, Kiel and Unterluss) as well as engaging with Customers and sub contractors to ensure successful Programme delivery.
Position Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer responsibilities are:
a) To operate as a competent and capable technical specialist providing Systems Engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, with specific emphasis on the design and delivery phases;
b) To be the technical focal point for system architectural solution development, determination of key technical trade decisions and to balance the system design;
c) To be responsible for the development and management of a System Architecture within Enterprise Architecture;
d) To define Use Cases, Sequence Diagrams, Logical/ Physical & Functional Architectures and states /modes;
e) To work with the Engineering teams to develop and derive requirements across functional and non functional aspects of the design;
f) To develop requirements specifications at system and sub system levels;
g) To manage and maintain requirements and traceability within DOORS including assessments of compliance at system and sub system levels;
h) To undertake the systems engineering analysis to set Interface Control Documents and performance requirements for the system and sub-system designs;
i) To work with the wider Programme team to plan, create and manage work packages for Systems engineering activities;
j) To prepare, run and present Systems Engineering related aspects of the Programme in meetings or design reviews to internal stakeholders, suppliers and Customer representatives;
k) To prepare material or provide input into Customer artefacts, deliverables, presentations and design milestones both internally and with the Customer;
l) To direct and support multi-disciplinary teams within the business, based both in the UK & Germany;
m) Undertake other duties as directed by the Line Manager.
Experience & Educational Requirements
· Minimum of 5 year experience of working in complex New Product Introduction (NPI) Military Vehicle Development Programme or within an Automotive OEM;
· Significant and applied experience of working with Military vehicle or Automotive OEM sub-systems design, development, integration, testing and certification Projects / Programmes;
· Applied knowledge of military vehicle operating environments and vehicle systems;
· Qualifications in Systems Engineering or equivalent Engineering/related discipline;
· Detailed development experience and application of DOORs and Enterprsie Architecture (or similar SysML toolset);
· Sound understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and their application to military vehicle Programmes;
· Demonstrated ability to operate as a highly capable engineer within the engineering team in both project delivery and bid capture work spheres;
· Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, within a culturally diverse and challenging environment of multiple and geographically dispersed stakeholders;
· Proficiency in the use of MS Office, Visio, DOORS and Enterprise Architect;
· The individual must be eligible for, be able to attain; and maintain an SC Clearance;
· The ability to travel and work in Germany, other UK sites and further abroad is required;

Salary: £50,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
