Remote - The position can be performed remotely [from the US] most of the time, but the employee may be asked to come on-site approximately four times per year.
We are seeking an experienced Motorsports Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer to join a multi-disciplined team of engineers and technicians responsible for building, running, and interpreting results of full car and subsystem simulations of varying complexity. Working with GM Race teams to ensure they are racing the highest performing vehicles possible while building and cultivating close relationships with GM Motorsports colleagues and GM supported race teams is core to this role. You will work with the motorsports team to provide direction and actionable data to GM race teams to improve weekend performance.

What you will do
Support full car and subsystem models capable of detailed aerodynamic simulation
Utilize proper modeling, testing, and analysis techniques required for a premier CFD program in motorsports
Plan and conduct correlational analysis of CFD and wind tunnel test results
Remain apprised of the latest developments in the field of CFD in order to improve the methods utilized for aerodynamic simulation of the racecar and its working components
Efficiently manage CFD resources to achieve increasing levels of hardware, software, and resource license utilization
Organize CFD test results into concise, presentable reports for proper decision making and implementation
Interface and collaborate with GM Race Teams and GM engineering, specifically the virtual design, development, and validation groups
Provide direction and actionable data to GM race teams to improve weekend performance
Additional Job Description
What you will need
Masters or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related subject with coursework in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics
3+ years industry experience as a CFD Engineer or Aerodynamicist
Experience with computer tools, 3D CAD files, CAE methods and Experimental Data
Substantial experience with CFD software (Star CCM+ preferred) as well as other flow simulation and visualization related software and methods
Excellent written and verbal skills
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment, with strong work ethic and integrity
Knowledge of experimental aerodynamics best practices
Self-motivation along with the ability to effectively work with others and support team goals
Nice to have
Programming experience with Java and Python languages
Proficiency in both Linux and Windows OS environments
Expertise of CAD software (Siemens NX and ANSA preferred)
Experience developing detailed models and meshes ready for CFD simulations
Understanding of various aerodynamic turbulence models as they relate to specific CFD test methods and results
Knowledge of both transient and steady state CFD solvers
Experience with the architecture and performance of Formula One, IndyCar, NASCAR, and Sportscar race vehicles
Knowledge of multiple race series regulations
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
The salary range for this role is ($ 72,435.36 – $109,760). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
