- Take ownership of business areas and operational relationships to act as a point of contact for technical advice, fault reporting and repair feedback.
- Lead Project design, implementation and documentation to the highest standards providing reliable and resilient technical solutions
- Expert point of contact for all fibre systems including PON, OTN.
- Support and liaise with other departments/customers, to fault-find problems or provide solutions to requests as they arise.
- Design and installation of optical multiplexing systems including CWDM, DWDM and OADM
- Optically testing, inspecting and commissioning the CCR fibre optic ring at F1 events using optical test equipment and end-face cleaning procedures
- As the fibre optic service provider, you will assist in supporting, configuring and monitoring the system for the broadcast, IT, and communications network.
- Represent the team and its systems in technical meetings.
- Deputise for Team manager at events when required.
- Mentoring and developing more junior staff
- First hand support for track side systems including: Track cameras, FIA marshalling, Telemetry, data acquisition and timing as well as paddock systems and F1 team integration
- Collaboration with stakeholders to optimise technical solutions whilst utilising existing available resources
- Undertaking race event preparatory work and be able to liaise with F1 departments to ensure CCR race planning is completed in adequate time.
- Work with line manager to continually explore the most effective and efficient way of maintaining and managing all technical systems.
- Able to provide support to test, service and terminate single/multimode fibre using a variety of connectors.
- Confident in general wiring practices and termination of data/power cables when required.
- Take ownership of systems to ensure that the design and workflows are continually adapted to meet ever changing business needs and make the most of technical advances.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and developments in relation to Track Systems, including contributing in system design and project team involvement.
- Work with team manager on staff recruitment
- Required to ensure the upkeep of equipment list/manifests and liaise with freight department, order new consumables and technical products when requested.
- A degree in broadcasting/telecommunication engineering discipline or relevant experience with actual experience in technical broadcasting/communication systems.
- Expert in fibre optical technologies including the testing, servicing and termination of single/multimode fibre using a variety of connectors. This includes OTDR testing, fusion splicing, fibre termination and installation of fibre optic cable.
- Proven history of system design and implementation.
- Previous project lead experience
- Experience with design, configuration and use of OTN system
- Experienced in TCP/IP Ethernet networks and configuring switches on a LAN network.
- Ability to perform in depth root cause analysis of system workflow and equipment faults and go back to first principles when necessary if faced with an unknown situation
- Practical experience in using 2D AutoCAD software
- Proven experience and understanding of technical wiring diagrams
- Capable of performing the rig and de-rig duties as required for a team member.
- Can travel frequently to perform an operational role at international circuits for occasionally over two weeks at a time
- The willingness to work long, unsociable hours both in the UK and overseas
- Extensive experience working within a Broadcasting environment/telecommunication as a Network Engineer or Broadcast Engineer with excellent network knowledge
