Role: IT Systems Administrator, Permanent

Direct Report: to Team Leader – IT Services

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 8:00/8:30am or 9:00 am start time, some flexibility. Occasional voluntary paid overtime, if required.

Salary: Starting from £35,000 pa, dependant on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses.

Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive IT team as our IT Systems Administrator, based in Alderley Park, working within a team of 4 and growing. We are responsible for delivering high quality bespoke software solutions to facilitate laboratory automation.

Role and Responsibilities

As our experienced IT Systems Administrator your key role is to help build, manage and maintain, plus troubleshooting for our existing and expanding infrastructure. This will include administration, running and diagnosing.

  • To maintain and implement for Microsoft Windows Server platforms as well as other similar infrastructure components.
  • Supporting MS Active Directory, ideally with experience in multi-forest environments. To include excellent knowledge of MS Group Policy.

Skills & Competencies (essential)

  • Excellent written and oral skills, proficient using Microsoft Office, desirable knowledge of 365 welcomed.
  • Working knowledge of IPv4 networking, subnets, routing, VPN and vLANs.
  • Experience in corporate technology solutions, to include:
  • Virtualisation environments - VMWare
  • NAS and SAN environments – e.g. Dell Isilon / NetApp
  • Backup technology – e.g. Veeam
  • Ability to hit the ground running, keen to develop and learn, flexible approach and able to make a positive contribution to the success of the team.
  • The ability to quickly grasp new technical concepts.
  • Highly self-motivated and personable with a reliable and enthusiastic approach.
  • You will have excellent technical skills and to be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Able to communicate effectively within a team environment and with suppliers.
  • Possess meticulous attention to detail, performing work to an exceptionally high standard, and highly organised.
  • The role would be ideal for someone who has hands-on experience within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experiences preferably in corporate IT.
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) Preferred

Desirable but not essential

  • Experienced with Linux, Comware/Aruba network switch commend line or similar and IT frameworks, such as: ITIL, Lean IT, Agile or Kanban.
  • Background in the pharmaceuticals or scientific industry, medical or healthcare environment.

  • Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 6% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 6% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
