We are looking for someone who wants to improve things for people and wildlife. Someone who we can trust with leading and managing one of our teams, knowing they will get the best out of those talented individuals.

The team are primarily responsible for ensuring all the local planning in the East Midlands conforms to legislation on flooding and environmental matters. The team work closely with internal colleagues from other departments and has close working relationships with local planning authorities. There is scope for much more and this is where the opportunity lies for the right individual. Quite simply, to amplify the influence of the team.

  • Excellent communication and networking skills; with the ability to successfully communicate to a wide range of audiences.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A passion for managing, developing, and supporting a team.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • Be a positive role model who values, inspires, motivates, and enthuses people.
  • Able to swiftly build, develop and sustain new relationships.
  • Eager to continuously adapt approaches for efficiency, innovation, and quality.
  • An awareness and understanding of the political framework we work within.
  • Knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant legislation particularly relating to local plans/supporting evidence, major growth projects and development management work-streams.
  • Confident in achieving quality results and in leading others to do the same.
Contact and additional information
The role will be based at Trentside Offices, Nottingham and whilst we have developed a flexible approach to remote working, you will be expected to attend Trentside at least once a week.
On occasions you may need to travel to Environment Agency offices or customers’ sites/offices in the East Midlands and occasionally further afield.
