Sustainable agriculture specialist - Tesco partnership

Job description
This is a UK based contract and as such, you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Evidence of your Right to Work will be checked prior to interview.

This is a unique chance to use your qualification and/or experience in sustainable agriculture to save our planet. Nature, our life support system, is being lost at an alarming rate and we have a short window to reverse this. That is why WWF UK have formed a ground-breaking multi-year partnership with Tesco to deliver sustainable, healthy and affordable food for all, with the ambitious aim of halving the environmental footprint of the UK shopping basket. We now have an incredible opportunity to join us as a Sustainable Agriculture Specialist and lead the sustainable agriculture workstream of our partnership with Tesco and the agriculture elements of the WWF Basket.

As Sustainable Agriculture Specialist, you will ensure key pieces of work are delivered that drive technical, government and sector advocacy as well as business transformation in Tesco’s supply chains, both in the UK and overseas. Collaborating with WWF colleagues and Tesco counterparts, you will oversee project planning, implementation, coordination, delivery and reporting. You will lead the delivery of key individual projects too. We will look to you to track budget allocations and spend, and identify knowledge gaps in the team, calling in external specialist expertise where needed. Important will be the ability to coordinate activities to maximise impact with wider WWF programmes of work as appropriate as well as collaborate with colleagues working on land use and management reform policy and projects covering transitioning to zero carbon agriculture, nature recovery and nature-based solutions.

For this key role, you must have a relevant qualification and/or equivalent experience in sustainable agriculture, business management, environment or sustainability. This will have given you a good understanding of soil, water, biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions and regenerative agriculture. You will have a track record of working with corporate partners, in networked, remote or virtual teams too. You will also be used to bringing together stakeholders and creating a culture of collaborative working. Critically, you will be used to engaging with businesses on changing policy & practice. Ideally, you will have practical experience within the farming sector is desirable.

Your technical expertise will be complemented by excellent communication, influencing, problem solving and presentation skills. Capable of working independently and proactively you will be good managing complex programmes, projects and budgets too.

If you are passionate about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you. Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
