About the Role:
Global Saskatoon’s News Department is currently seeking a full time Digital Broadcast Journalist to join its team. The successful candidate for this position may be required to work a variety of shifts and perform a variety of duties. In this position, you will report directly to the News and Operations Manager. This is a group 4 position in the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Generate original and relevant story/segment ideas.
- Strong on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material.
- Write, produce, shoot, edit and post content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for both broadcast and online.
- ENG photography and non-linear editing for broadcast and online.
- Publishing video content to website and social media channels.
- Available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends
- Producing as required
- Other duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Broadcasting, Broadcast Technology or in a related field
- Strong writing and storytelling skills
- Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
- Strong news writing and presenting skills, and the ability to quickly pivot between daily stories
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment
- Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and related applications
- Familiarity with Candidate Press style and WordPress would be considered assets
- Preference will be given to candidates with proven shooting and editing experience
- Self-started with good communication skills
- Preference will be given to candidates with proven shooting and editing experience
- An amazing, can-do attitude, must work well under pressure and possess a desire to be the best

- Valid full driver's license with a clean driving abstract
