Sustainability Specialist (TCFD Manager) - 9 month FTC
- This is a nine month fixed term role aimed to grow our understanding of – and action in response to – climate related risks and opportunities, working with teams across the business and value chain.
- The role will lead on the development and production of BT Group’s FY24 TCFD disclosure and other growing demands of regulatory reporting.
- Specific activities may include climate risk and opportunities identification, data collection, analysis, production, and preparation for the audit of BT Group’s FY24 TCFD disclosure.
- The TCFD Manager will also support the broader team on other related sustainability reporting, including but not limited to Climate Transition Plans, TNFD, and CDP.
- This role will be part of the Group Sustainability team under Corporate Affairs.
- Leading the next phase of work to advance our understanding of – and action in response to – climate related risks and opportunities.
- Engage and work with teams across the business and the value chain to drive action and reduce risk and maximise opportunities.
- Managing and delivering BT Group’s FY24 TCFD disclosure from end-to-end; this involves carrying out the TCFD gap analysis and physical/transition climate risks assessments with external suppliers and internal subject matter experts, preparing the disclosure, securing approval from senior management, and obtaining external assurance from auditors.
- Work with business stakeholders to integrate climate risk management and adaptation planning into their projects and operations.
- Support review and development of BT Group’s climate change targets, KPIs and other metrics.
- Advance work to implement actions to mitigate climate-related risks and capitalise on opportunities.
- Support development of other related sustainability reporting such as Climate Transition Plans, TNFD, CDP and input to customer bids.
- Act as a subject matter knowledge on climate change, supporting strategic projects, capacity building, and business development opportunities
- Experience in undertaking / leading climate TCFD assessments for large / listed organisations
- A demonstrable understanding of the TCFD recommendations and mandatory requirements, including the governance, strategy, risk management and metrics & targets pillars.
- Effective use of controls and management of business risk
- Strong written/oral communication skills to explain climate risks, impacts, solutions and make recommendations to senior stakeholders and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organisation and with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to interface with technical specialists and synthesize their knowledge and understanding into management reports and public disclosures.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
