The Social Impact Team focuses on making food healthier for right now and future generations, more sustainable and nature positive, and fairer with access to all.

The Sustainability Manager is our go-to sustainability expert in the business, responsible for devising, implementing and monitoring the sustainability strategy to drive change across our business through projects, including our journey to becoming a net zero business.

WHAT YOU ARE HERE TO DO:

Sustainability
  • Deliver our goal to decarbonise our business by reaching net zero before 2040
  • Ensure we have accurate and robust data to measure our carbon footprint, measure progress and demonstrate our achievements through reports and visualisations.
  • Devise and implement our sustainability strategy and set evidence-based targets
  • Act as a business partner to our departments through guidance and support and drive change by developing and implementing sustainability projects aimed to create business impact
  • Develop, implement and review sustainable organisational policies or practices
  • Elevate the sustainability of ingredients and materials
  • Increase circularity in our products and packaging
  • Help people to reduce food waste and reduce food waste in our own value chain
  • Work closely with the brand marketing & comms and digital content teams to make sure that our sustainability goals and credentials are effectively communicated
  • Drive the sustainability agenda into all parts of the business, working in partnership with with the head of standards to insure integration into planning and strategies (e.g. Product innovation, supply chain)
  • Establish and maintain effective measures and reporting procedures for the Company’s sustainability impact that forms the basis of our Social Impact report
  • Take responsibility for helping to educate and inform staff, partners and audiences, offering sustainability insight and research to guide creative propositions and decision making
  • Deliver our Regenerative Agriculture roadmap

B-Corp
  • Act as the lead representative on the internal working group to maintain and improve our B-Corp certification in relation to sustainability
  • Help the process for BCorp recertification: effectively liaising with relevant departments and stakeholders across the business to ensure each function is working towards the sustainability goals to gain B-Corp points

Social impact reporting
  • Recommend and agree the Company’s social impact targets on sustainability with the senior management team
  • Inform and engage staff on our sustainability activities and how these aligns with the Company's values and business objectives
  • Effectively liaise with relevant departments and stakeholders across the business to ensure each function is working towards the Sustainability Goals and activities that forms the basis of our Social Impact report

Requirements

  • A demonstrable knowledge of sustainability and corporate purpose
  • Previous experience as a Sustainability Manager
  • Good understanding of the environmental Legislation and sustainability pathways (e.g. EU’s Green Deal)
  • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards to help enhance and deliver the sustainability strategy at both an organisation and project level
  • Proven experience convening and being involved at driving change across organisations, building and activating internal and external networks
  • An understanding of social impact and sustainability as part of a commercial strategy – how to deliver, engage and measure
  • Creative, energising and solution focussed, able to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Project management skills, including the ability to develop and implement plans and timelines
  • Able to interpret data and use it to tell a compelling story internally and externally, alongside translating analyses into meaningful recommendations and actions

HOW YOU’LL DO IT
  • Drive the strategy across all relevant teams and activities, acting as a strong voice of influence and knowledge on sustainability
  • Bringing in best practice, proven tools & processes as well as partners
  • Being a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability. A convener around critical topics on sustainability for impact and change – across internal and external audiences
  • Leverage data and performance helping to deliver an evidence based solution across key initiatives
  • A strategic approach that can be grounded in practical action and the realities of the business
  • A collaborative, creative and open approach
  • Highly organised; can work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A tenacity and ability to persuade when hard choices are needed
