We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the team in the role of Legal Counsel within HSBC Asset Management.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide counsel and legal support on a variety of legal matters to Asset Management, including matters that may be complex or may have some impact across business entities or jurisdictions, in relation to new product development, regulatory change and interpretation, strategic initiatives, change management, investment management and distribution activities.
  • Provide support to Head of Legal and AM business with regard to management of legal risks and designing suitable controls.
  • To be considered a trusted advisor to the business by providing commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical legal support and advice in a cost effective manner.
  • Work with other legal team members to support an effective culture and network, including with external counsel, to influence and contribute to the business and its strategic objectives.
  • To contribute to and advise and support other business lines as part of the wider HSBC Legal function, including in contribution to training and knowledge updates for HSBC Knowledge Hub and HSBC Legal University.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a qualified solicitor.
  • Asset management or financial regulatory experience essential.
  • A strong understanding of Asset Management is highly desirable.
  • Highly organised with the ability manage high and complex workloads.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Senior stakeholder management experience.
  • An experience of ESG matters would be desirable.

The base location for this role is: London/working from home, with the expectation of around Two days in the office per week or as and when required.
