Who we are looking for:


We are looking for an exceptional individual and experienced director to lead the growth, impact and results of our International Development team. The existing team and programme portfolio supports international assistance in the areas of climate change, nature and sustainable cities. You will have substantial experience of working in and/or with public sector clients, in particular working with Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) business development and programme delivery.
You will have a consulting background with the ability to build relationships, originate new business and technically lead and oversee team development and performance. An ambitious and positive mindset, enthusiasm, confidence, communication and people skills will all be important factors in finding the right person.


About the role:


As part of the wider leadership team for our PwC Sustainability Practice, you will play an active role in the overall success of PwC’s ESG and Sustainability growth and investment plans. Your primary focus will be within the Government Industry practice as part of a core leadership team. Your clients will be UK ODA agencies, international governments, development banks and private foundations.


Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Strengthening the firm’s International Development capability by leading programme design,delivery, commercial and impact related goals.
  • Developing new business by leading bid teams and market development activities
  • Sourcing and coordinating technical expertise e.g., climate change, nature, infrastructure, urban development, energy efficiency, renewables, clean tech and innovation.
  • Working collaboratively with peers to lead the development, talent and commercial growth of our expanding public sector sustainability practice
  • Accountability for the performance of new and existing projects, programmes, staffing, quality, risk and commercial management
  • Leadership of our highly talented core team of experienced professional colleagues

Key skills & experience

  • Understanding of the landscape of technical needs, delivery commercial models required to service the international development market
  • A personal network of clients, suppliers and individuals that can strengthen our business
  • Ability to communicate, influence and work with senior public officials, international governments and senior client stakeholders
  • Ability to build senior relationships, leading and working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and technical delivery partners
  • Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is desirable.
