Liberty Mutual's Global Risk Solutions (GRS) segment offers a wide array of property, casualty, specialty and reinsurance coverages to commercial entities. The GRS Sustainability team is seeking an experienced and talented person to join a team focused on capitalizing on that opportunity and driving growth and sustained top tier profitability as we integrate our sustainability strategy across our entire global $14B commercial business.
Collaborating with underwriting, distribution, innovation, analytics, and technology, you will lead and/or be hands-on supporting meaningful sustainability-focused initiatives that have significant impact and drive the organization forward. Current focus areas include refining and operationalizing embedding ESG considerations into our underwriting approach, improving awareness and training of our market-facing teams, and designing the approach and preparing to measure and report on emerging ESG standards. This position requires candidates who enjoy collaborating and influencing, bring strong listening skills, business acumen and problem solving to the team, and are able to get into the details to execute and deliver. Experience in consulting and familiarity with sustainability and insurance are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand strategic sustainability issues (internal and external) faced by commercial insurance; monitor, review, analyze market developments to inform Liberty approach and advise leaders about challenges and opportunities
Identifies opportunities and influence the development, implementation, and administration of frameworks, processes, and programs to integrate sustainability/ESG issues into our core business, including underwriting, portfolio steering, product and service innovation, training, communication, and measurement and reporting
Design, plan, and manage and execute complex initiatives and complex problems with business impact, preparing high quality materials to support GRS sustainability strategy; balance responsibilities on multiple projects
Collect data and information from various internal and external sources (e.g. stakeholder interviews, workshops, surveys)
Perform business analysis and evaluate the impact of alternative management decisions on our sustainability strategic objectives, GRS business objectives, and financial performance. Take a broad perspective to identify solutions and conduct complete, high quality, and error-free analysis.
Craft materials that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations; assist with preparing materials for the board and senior executives
Communicate with senior leadership and audiences of varying size, level, and exposure to sustainability to move the organization to action
Build and own relationships with key stakeholders across our enterprise sustainability team and GRS business segments
Guide team and stakeholders towards consensus points, gain buy-in, support change management and ensure impact
Coordinate knowledge sharing within the sustainability team and enhance broader organizational awareness and sustainability/ESG knowledge
Benchmark best-in-class methods, monitor future trends, research emerging issues, incorporate expert feedback, and support readiness and response for ESG-related compliance.

In virtue of your role’s prescribed legal entity responsibilities, you will be required to:
Undertake your role with due regard to the prescribed responsibilities and regulatory requirements associated with that role - which may require undertaking appropriate learning & development.
Take appropriate responsibility for legal entity management oversight to enable the effective response to regulatory enquiry and challenge.
Oversee and contribute to the ongoing maintenance and fostering of a healthy culture.

Knowledge of relevant ESG frameworks, ratings, and data sources and their strengths and shortcomings preferred
Qualifications
Bachelor`s degree (preferably in Sustainability/ESG or related field) or equivalent experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior leaders
Strong organizational and project planning skills with a proven track record of integrated implementation
Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
Works independently; receives minimal guidance
