Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Business Partner to join our team. Reporting directly into our Director of Sustainability and Investment, you will be a promoter and champion of change and will ensure we have the organisational capability to transition to net zero. You will work closely with our Heads of Service and the Executive team and make a real difference to our sustainability journey.
Magna Housing owns and manages around 9,000 homes and is a community-based housing association. We mainly work in Dorset and Somerset (our head office is in Dorchester) providing housing services to local people.
Our vision of “Creating Great Homes Together” is fundamental to the work we do, and we have ambitious plans to be “beyond the best” over the next ten years.
Magna prides itself on being large enough to influence but small enough to care. We are on an exciting journey – one that requires agility in how the business develops over the next decade, and different, innovative and ultimately sustainable ways of working as we explore new territory.
Magna have focused on our culture, customer experience and the wider wellbeing of colleagues over the past 24 months and this work has identified new opportunities across the organisation. You will really make a difference to the sustainability agenda right across Magna.
What you will do
You will promote Magna’s approach to sustainability, help build resilience and seek opportunities for biodiversity gain.
You will make recommendations and report on our sustainability targets and help us to reduce our carbon footprint.
Help create or engage in collaborative working opportunities with other organisations to maximise our networks to increase the pace of change and sharing of knowledge.
You will ensure we can track our progress, prepare reports, manage contracts, and prepare bids to help us secure funding and new resources to support this work.
You will directly influence the location, look and feel of our homes in the future and significantly impact on our ambitious plans.
Who we are looking for
Someone who demonstrates that they are experienced and/or qualified in sustainability and who is naturally collaborative.
You will have a passion to improve the environmental sustainability on our homes, estates, communities and the natural environment to improve the lives of our current and future customers.
You will be a strong influencer and able to apply financial acumen and planning to support our business leaders to structure business cases that balance the cost and social value of their plans.
A Business Partner who will work across our strategic priority areas and within the wider team of Business Partners to identify policies, procedures or practices that impact on our environmental sustainability and prioritise, propose and facilitate change and innovation.
The Package
We are at the forefront of agile working practices. The role holder can be based anywhere in the UK but will need to be available to travel to our sites in the South West, covering Dorset, Somerset and the surrounding areas.
A defined contribution pension scheme with the company matching contributions up to 8% of salary and up to 6 weeks holiday entitlement, based on service.
Whichever part of Magna you want to work for, we pride ourselves on providing a good working environment and benefits. We look after those who work for us as we know that without the commitment of our colleagues, we wouldn’t be able to provide the fantastic range of services to our customers.
We're a great place to work and are looking for creative, aspirational and talented people to work with us. We are looking for people who share our commitment to equality and diversity and are keen to receive applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities to add value and richness to our workforce.
