The role
As our Sustainability Assistant you will work closely with our Sustainability Manager in order to progress Commercial’s internal environmental and social sustainability initiatives forwards.
With full support and training, you will provide colleagues and customers with clear guidance, advice and compliance on company policies, best practices, and relevant legislation. You will also be expected to undertake projects and research that contributes to the continual improvement of both internal and external processes and practices.
We have recently pledged to achieve our Net-Zero goal by 2028 which you play a key role with supporting us achieving this goal. You will be given the opportunity to inspire others, inside and outside our organisation, on creating real and tangible change with our Net-Zero offerings.
Your responsibilities as a Sustainability Assistant will be:
- Accurately collate data from multiple information sources in order to update and maintain purpose driven sustainability reports
- Prepare relevant communication pieces, such as presentations for both internal and external parties
- Support with training and educating internal and external stakeholders on sustainability agendas
- Gain a deep understanding of our suppliers, products, and services in order to comply with the science-based targets
- Provide general administration, organise and maintain sustainability records and paperwork as required whilst having a focus on adhering to all require compliance regulations
- Regularly conduct sustainability research in order to evidence the benefits of Commercial’s Net-Zero solutions and supply chain mapping
- Support the team with generating new innovations and sustainable solutions
- Support the research and implementation of sustainability projects throughout the organisation
About you
- You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge base surrounding environmental and social sustainability challenges
- You will have a passion and genuine interest in sustainability and how it impacts organisations
- A desire for making a positive impact on organisations through sustainable initiatives
- You will have successfully achieved your A Levels ideally within Science, Humanities and/or Maths but these subjects are not an essential requirement for the role
- It would be good to have experience in customer service/administration roles as providing excellent customer service and administration support is vital to the success of this role
- It would be beneficial if you have a university degree in a relevant subject such as Geography or Environmental Science but is not essential
- You will be of an analytical nature, have a positive approach to interpreting numerical data and a high level of attention to detail
- You will be required to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, so excellent communication skills both written and verbal will be required
- Demonstratable experience in using Microsoft Office packages, particularly including Excel
Please note, due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence will be required in order to occasionally travel to our customer sites throughout the UK.
